For Makers
We are looking for you.
Not for products. For makers. For people who care deeply about what they create and why they create it — and who are ready to share it with the world.
What Tokyoslo does
Tokyoslo is a cultural consultancy bridging Japanese makers and lifestyle brands with the European market. We work with makers who have extraordinary craft but no clear path into Europe — and we build that path for them.
We handle the things that are hardest to do from Japan:
- Understanding European taste and buyer behaviour
- Writing your brand story in a way that resonates across cultures
- Navigating EU regulations, shipping, and compliance
- Introducing you to the right European businesses — concept stores, interior design studios, boutique hotels, lifestyle retailers, and corporate gifting companies who are actively looking for what you make
- Building your visibility through media, storytelling, and strategic positioning
You focus on making. We focus on everything else.
Who we are
We are four women based in Tokyo — Japanese, Norwegian, Thai, and Hong Konger — with a shared obsession for Japanese craft and a deep understanding of the European market. Between us we speak Japanese, Norwegian, English, Cantonese, and Thai.
Maiya grew up between Norway and Japan — she understands the Nordic market from the inside, not as an observer. Jun speaks Japanese and brings a strong international business perspective. Oh is an artist with a painter's eye for authenticity and beauty. Together we know both worlds well, and we built Tokyoslo to connect them.
What we look for
We work with makers across the full spectrum of Japanese lifestyle — from ancient craft traditions to contemporary Tokyo culture. We are currently particularly interested in:
- Incense and incense holders
- Daruma — both traditional and contemporary
- Kintsugi sets and supplies
- Wooden craft objects
- Textiles — yukata, obi, and woven goods
- Contemporary Japanese lifestyle and design brands
But we are open to any maker whose work carries a genuine story and reflects real craft — whether rooted in centuries of tradition or reimagining Japanese culture for a modern audience.
Let's talk
If this feels right, we would love to hear from you. We are happy to speak in Japanese or English, and we will respond personally — not with an automated reply.
